Spring Boot 3 and with it comes an entierely new opportunity: the AOT engine and its support for GraalVM. The new AOT engine begins with Spring Framework and is fully supported in Spring Boot 3.0+. Join me, Spring Developer Advocate Josh Long, and we'll explore what the AOT engine offers, its component model in Spring Framework, and why it should be your next compilation target on your journey to production

As you all know already, Josh Long is our favorite Java standup comedian! He has been the first Spring Developer Advocate since 2010. Josh is a Java Champion, author of 7 books (including "Reactive Spring") and numerous best-selling video training (including "Building Microservices with Spring Boot Livelessons" with Spring Boot co-founder Phil Webb), and an open-source contributor (Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Axon, Spring Cloud, Activiti, Vaadin, etc), a Youtuber (Coffee + Software with Josh Long as well as my Spring Tips series ), and a podcaster ("A Bootiful Podcast").

A few Java libraries have shown up recently that use text templates but compile to Java classes at build time. They can thus claim to some extent to be "reflection free". Together with potential benefits of runtime performance, they promise to be easy to use and integrate with GraalVM native image compilation, so they are quite interesting for people just getting started with that stack in Spring Boot 3.x. We take a look at a selection of libraries (Rocker, JTE and JStachio) and how to get them running with Spring Boot and GraalVM.

Doctor Dave Syer is the founder of Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Batch, lead of Spring Security OAuth, and an active contributor to Spring Integration, Spring Framework, Spring AMQP, Spring Security. He has designed and built successful enterprise software solutions using Spring, and implemented them in major institutions worldwide.
